Episode 3 – Omexom Green Story: Extending steel life while eliminating zinc-based paint
Welcome to the third episode of the Omexom Green Story!
Today, let's focus on an initiative of the Omexom teams in New Zealand: Extending steel life while eliminating zinc-based paint.
Omexom in Sweden is awarded a contract to operate and maintain the substations supplying the Stockholm metro
Omexom in Sweden was awarded a new contract by Storstockholms Lokaltrafik - the public transport authority for the Stockholm region - to operate and maintain the high-voltage substations that supply the Stockholm metro and the cities of Tvärbanan, Nockebybanan, Lidingöbanan, Saltsjöbanan, Roslagsbanan and Spårväg. With this new assignment, Omexom continues to ensure the power supply to SL's rail traffic.
On January 1, 2019, the Norwegian authorities requested the installation of new automatic electricity meters in homes. Permissions have been granted to extend the timeframe for sites where the intervention is more complex than for individual households.

Episode 1: Upgrading degraded land through renewable energy production
On 28 September 2021, Neoen's teams, together with those of Omexom in France, inaugurated the Paulmy photovoltaic power plant, a solar power plant built on a degraded land. By participating in the construction of this plant, Omexom is contributing to the enhancement of the area by giving a second life to a degraded site.
Let's take a look at the story of this project! This is the first episode of the Omexom Green Story!
The Netherlands / Energy Transition / Offshore wind / Substations
Omexom replaces nine circuit breakers at Borssele 150kV HV substation
The Netherlands' largest offshore wind farm is currently under construction off the coast of Zeeland. A total of 173 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 1.5 gigawatts of green energy will be installed in the region.

Pioneers of offshore wind energy from the North Sea coast
A year ago, on June 30th 2020, the project “Trianel Windpark Borkum 2” (TWB 2) was successfully delivered. This ambitious wind farm located in the North Sea required 3 years of project development and 2 years of construction time. The 32 rotors operating nowadays generate an output of 200 megawatts which supplies 130.000 households with renewable energy.
TWB 2 is the result of Omexom absolute passion for the offshore renewables sector.
The installation work for the first turbine started in July 2019.
By mid of 2020 all 32 turbines have been handed over to the operations department.
Omexom will build the world’s first 400kV Green Gas for Grid (G3) substation
In Scotland, Omexom has been awarded the contract by SSEN Transmission to build the world's first 400kV green gas substation (G3) at Kintore. The project is part of the client's plans to upgrade its network in the east of Scotland from 275kV to 400kV and to facilitate increased renewable energy generation in the region.
Lund becomes the fourth city in Sweden with a tramway
With good effect, Omexom finished the delivery of rectifier substations for the Lund tramway in Sweden. To meet the challenges in the project, for example busy roads, footpaths or cycle paths, and avoid disturbing Lund citizens, Omexom had to work on a new solution to carry out the project.
Traditional construction would have involved extensive work with deliveries of building materials and electrical equipment that would have traveled through the streets. The delivered materials would have covered areas of the road where the substations would be located. This traffic would also have interfered with other simultaneous works.

Omexom completes its first full digital 225kV high voltage substation
On May 27th, 2021, Omexom teams in Senegal and Morocco commissioned the very first full digital 225 kV high voltage substation on the african continent.
Bird markers on high-voltage overhead lines in Belgium
Birds often collide with high-voltage overhead lines because they have not seen them earlier. In order to make it easier for birds to see them and to reduce the number of collisions, Omexom in Belgium has installed bird markers on behalf of Elia - the Belgian high-voltage network operator - on the overhead line along the R4 road in Evergem, in the Ghent Canal Zone.
